I had a splash of inspiration after brainstorming what to wear to an upcoming Rave. See the thing is, the vast majority of sapphically-inclined ladies who attend this monthly swaray show up in a snapback (or fitted), skinnies and hideously clunky basketball sneakers. No knock to this particular style (if and ONLY if done correctly) but naturally, when I show up in a blazer with elbow patches and piping over a button down and a tie, I look, shall we say, out of place. So the plan is to dress it down a bit, without completely blending in with crowd or forgoing my usual debonair ways.
After taking a gander in my go-to shop, H&M (shh, don’t tell my manager at Express…), I came up with what I think will prove to be a wonderfully dapper happy medium: a turtleneck under a vest/waistcoat with a pocket square.
Be on the look out for pics of the complete getup after this weekend.
Being that I’m a lesbian, one might think that I would appreciate anything double breasted. But lo, such is not the case. I actually have a special hatred for double breasted suits. I don’t know what it is about them, but I can honestly say I’ve never seen a double breasted suit that I’ve agreed with. However, my lesbian card should not be completely revoked because there IS a saving grace in the DB family: THE CARDIGAN. Particularly a chunky one. Double breasted cardigan sweaters are very versatile and wonderfully warm (see what I did there?) without sacrificing style. The only thing negative I could possibly say about one of these bad boys is that they’re a bitch to button.
Fall.is.officially.here. GET INTO IT SUCKAS!! I don’t know about everyone else, but Fall literally gives me life. The natural colors come out, the layers pile on, the accesories abound and the OUTERWEAR…ohhh the outerwear. There’s gonna be a whole gang of trends for the Fall/Winter 2011 season, but I want to focus on one of my FAVIES for right now: The Varsity/Letterman jacket. You may have gathered that I love any piece that can be dressed up or down and this is definitely one of those. You can get a more urban/street style inspired looked by pairing it with a henley or a simple v-neck tee or spruce it up a bit with a vest and tie. Either way, Varsity jackets are a sure fire way to look like an MVP ;) (I have a feeling I might lose a few friends because of that last line….I don’t blame you.) Ps - That little man is killin' the game.
BABY SWAG. Either you got it or you don’t. ‘Nuff said.
Oh.My.Baby.Jesus. I’m more than sure 98% of my friends were THIS GIRL when they were little…And if you don’t know which girl I’m talking about, then you’re clearly not in that 98th percentile.
This song is just beautiful. That’s really all there is to that. Kbye. *Ry Cuming - Always Remember Me*
You’ve gotta love this song and this guys voice. There’s a certain old soul, gritty nature to it. *Awolnation - Sail*
Never has there been a song that I’ve related to more than this one. I quite literally experienced and thought every.single.lyric written in this song. This is the worst kind of theme song. *Missy Higgins - Where I Stood*
Seems fitting today…
A bit of truth…
